Equipping faith leaders in Arkansas to end poverty and advocate for economic justice
As people of faith,
We understand that we share a responsibility to support one another and reflect God’s concern for all people, especially the most vulnerable.
The Micah Fellows Program is a six-month learning community devoted to nurturing moral leadership around anti-poverty work in Arkansas, where nearly 1 out of every two households struggles to make ends meet.
The initiative is hosted by the Methodist Foundation for Arkansas with support from the Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation.
Grounded in Biblical theology
At the heart of the Fellows Program is the scriptural imperative to place service to the poor at the center of our Christian witness.
Through guided retreats and learning sessions, fellows will explore the biblical-theological frameworks supporting anti-poverty work and deepen their capacity for educating and organizing others around God’s vision of justice and abundant living.
Strengthened by a community of peers
Faith leaders in Arkansas are often on the frontline of poverty, witnessing its devastating consequences on families and communities as well as the limitations of current alleviation efforts.
By bringing together a cohort of peers, the Fellows Program aims to strengthen individual anti-poverty efforts and create a unified voice among moral leadership by nurturing close relationships, facilitating shared learnings, and offering opportunities for collaboration.
Focused on direct action
The goal of the Fellows Program is to equip faith leaders with the knowledge, skills, and resources they need to strengthen their public witness to the poor and vulnerable in their communities.
Fellows will participate in media, advocacy, and narrative training and have access to micro-grants for regional projects focused on economic inclusion and justice.
